Vernon, Iowa, opened the 2013 season on Monday, June 3 and Thursday, June 6.  Shares are still available.  If you want to join, take off $17 for each week missed since the start.  Here is the 2013 CSA registration form.  Please print and mail to Laura to reserve your share.

Summer Jobs for Students

Abbe Hills Farm CSA, near Mt. Vernon, Iowa, has hired all of the workers we think we will need for the 2013 season.  However, you may still submit an application for the worker file.  If we get very busy, we may need to hire more.  Job announcements for college age workers and high school age workers explain the application process.

Driving Directions from
Cedar Rapids

Go southeast on Mount Vernon Road about 5 miles beyond the intersection with Highway 13. Abbe Hills Road crosses Mount Vernon Road in front of the Community Bible Church. Turn left on Abbe Hills Road and go east a little more than 1 mile to 825 Abbe Hills Road. You will see two red sheds on the north side of the road, your left. Use the first/west driveway, which is the farm driveway to enter the farm on pickup nights. You will park along and exit by way of the house driveway. Please be careful when pulling out onto Abbe Hills Road.

 

Driving Directions from Mount Vernon

Go north out of town on 8th Ave/X20/Springville Road a little more than 1 mile to Abbe Hills Road. Turn left and go west a little more than 1 mile to 825 Abbe Hills Road. You will see two red sheds on the north side of the road, your right. Use the second/west driveway, which is the farm driveway to enter the farm on pickup nights. You will park along and exit by way of the house driveway. Please be careful when pulling out onto Abbe Hills Road.

 

Another Way from Mount Vernon

Go northwest out of town on 1st St/ Mount Vernon Road a little more than 1 mile to Museum Road. Turn right on Museum Road and go north a short distance to Abbe Hills Road. Turn right and go east a little less than 1 mile to 825 Abbe Hills Road. You will see two red shed on the north side of the road, your left. Use the first/west driveway, which is the farm driveway to enter the farm on pickup nights. You will park along and exit by way of the house driveway. Please be careful when pulling out onto Abbe Hills Road.

 

From Martelle

Go southwest on Highway 1 to the corner of Abbe Hills Road and Highway 1. The intersection is a bit hidden by a tall windbreak. You will be a little more than 1 mile north of Mount Vernon when you reach this intersection. Turn right/west on Abbe Hills Road. Follow it west for a little more than 2 miles, crossing Ink Road and Springville Road to 825 Abbe Hills Road. You will see two red sheds on the north side of the road, your right. Use the second/west driveway, which is the farm driveway to enter the farm on pickup nights. You will park along and exit by way of the house driveway. Please be careful when pulling out onto Abbe Hills Road.
