A cold and cloudy week, but there are eggs

Greetings shareholders and friends,

The market tomorrow is in Mt. Vernon, 11:00 until 1:00, at the Community Center at the east end of downtown.  I'll be there with eggs.  All the regular vendors will be there with all the usual goodies, including meat, honey, mushrooms, bakery, pasta, potatoes, bread, jellies, and candy.  I'm pretty sure there will be something that would be a suitable Valentine's gift, and you'll be able to feel good about supporting local producers while simultaneously impressing your sweetie with a tasty, small-carbon-footprint treat!

Remember the showing of the movie, "Fresh", on Tuesday, February 21, at the Community Center auditorium at 7:00.  I think everybody who thinks about local food will find something to like about the movie.  We're also going to discuss the organization of a vegetable gardening club in Mt. Vernon.  So if you've been thinking about gardening this year, you might like to come and meet other people with the same idea.  I'll also be bringing some seeds that are too old for me to plant, yet probably still pretty good, to share with anybody who wants them.

One more thing.  To show the movie, we need a projector, laptop, speakers, and associated cords to hook it all together.  Has anybody got equipment that you are willing to loan to two middle aged, responsible ladies (me and Jackie Martin) for one evening?  I know I can hustle a laptop pretty easily, but the other components are proving elusive.  Additionally, if any of you knows of anybody who will give me a used projector (hey Rockwell guys!), or of a grant to buy one, please let me know.  Watching movies together (like, maybe on the side of a barn?) is fun and can be inspirational, but getting the equipment together to do it is a hassle.

Hope to see you Saturday,
Laura
