Where do I park?
(Oh, parking. My least favorite thing. Although, you have been doing it perfectly for the last year, so maybe I should stop worrying about it!) The goals of the "parking project" are to keep the cars away from the areas where the kids play, to keep everybody out of any mud that might develop, and to keep the drive wide open so cars can continue on past. The way we make all that happen, it’s a little farther to carry your vegetables, but it will make my insurance agent and the county zoning director much happier people because we will be keeping the cars away from the buildings and each other and off the side of the road. On CSA nights, we make a one way street around the buildings, with the CSA entrance at the farm driveway and the exit from the house driveway. Both driveways are rocked, with permanent grass cover on both sides. There is plenty of solid ground for parking inside the farm yard and along the house driveway. Please NEVER park on the road. We must be very careful never to restrict the use of the road for other vehicles. I have a few spots for elderly and disabled people near the big shed where we keep the vegetables, but for all the young and healthy people (that’s almost everybody!), the parking is along the right side of the driveway a little bit past the back of the shed, up out of the small waterway that runs around the shed. There will be signs to show you the few special spots near the shed, and the places on the right side of the driveway where most of you will park. If nobody parks on the left side of the drive, it will leave it wide enough for the cars and the occasional tractor that need to slip through.
